Let the terrible two’s begin!

Wait until he’s 2, they said. Well, it is true what they say… things get progressively more challenging, but at the same time… they get better. I can finally have a conversation with the little guy and we can wrestle together. Or, I can fart and there’s someone there to laugh at it. Nicole normally rolls her eyes at me… but no, not Nathaniel.

  • Nate came home one day, and yelled out “SUUUPPPERRMAN!” How did he even know who Superman even is?
  • He also loves The Incredible Hulk, Captain America, Spiderman and Batman. Hearing him say Captain America is hilarious. “CAPITIN MANIKA”
  • He randomly yells out “Hulk SMASH” while he’s playing with his toys. He loves hulk so much that he even wanted to be him for Halloween.
  • His love for diggers, excavators, trucks, dinosaurs and superheroes continues.
  • He’s started to be able to joke with you, and say things that to him are funny, but are actually funny.
  • He went on his first airplane to BC/Alberta in July where we went on vacations for two weeks. He noticed mountains and said, cool… and went back to looking at bugs on the ground.
  • He still loves strawberries and would die for them. He also enjoys cottage cheese, chicken and meat, bear paw cookies, and has a new obsession for tangerines. He eats 2-3 bear paws before he goes to mini-skool.
  • He has strengthened his friend bond with Liam. He says Liam “Liamom”
  • He’s always wanting us to bring up the Blippi Halloween episode and song, and always wants to play with the skeleton bones I bought to decorate our front yard.
  • He wants big pumpkins, really really big ones to put in front of the house.
  • He actually went swimming at the beach for once when we went to the cottage in August this year. For once, he actually went in the water. Normally, he just likes playing in the sand.
  • He’s learned how to run really, really fast this time around, but usually falls when he’s wearing his crocs.
  • Nate is forming full sentences, and we can have a full conversation with him now.
  • He farts, then looks at me and laughs.
  • He told me he loved me when I was putting him down to sleep the other day. He stroked my beard, looked me in the eyes and said “Daddy, I love you”. He’s never done this before. I almost cried.
  • He likes to bring random objects to bed and wants to fall asleep with them. He brought a cardboard box to bed the other day, and was holding it while he slept. Cool?
  • He always asks to tell him stories about Skeletons at night. Halloween season I guess?
  • He still wakes up at 5:45 – 6ish every. single. morning. YAWN.
  • He was out of daycare for 3 weeks because of a COVID case in his class, and spent those 3 weeks at Nana’s house. He absolutely loved it, and now he absolutely hates daycare. He cries and screams every single morning when I’m bringing him to school. Not cool.
  • He loves building stuff and using his plastic tools that he has at home. He’s getting great with building things out of blocks, and no longer wants to always break the masterpieces I make for him every morning.
  • He pet kangaroos at a Kangaroo farm in Kelowna, BC. So cool.
  • He visited Canada’s Wonderland, African Lion Safari, The Toronto Zoo, The ROM and a bunch of drive thru dinosaur exhibits this summer.
  • He loves boat rides in our boat, but wasn’t particularly fond of being out on the water when he got stung by a bee this summer.
  • The threw his entire fishing rod that I bought him in the water at the cottage because I said, “Okay Nathaniel, now throw it in”. I meant the lure.
  • He tries to sing sometimes, and it’s hilarious. He sings his ABC’s, twinkle twinkle little star and a bunch of other songs. The WHOLE SONG!
  • He loves to dance when he’s in a good mood, and shakes his booty really well.
  • He cheers me on when I pee now. Pretty cool to have an audience.
  • He goes down the slide all by himself.
